Background

Ms. Samson has served as a judicial extern to Honorable André Birotte for the U.S. District Court, Central District of California. Ms. Samson worked in law enforcement and State and Federal prosecutorial agencies before entering a private practice of law. Ms. Samson worked at the Department of Justice, the United States Attorney’s Office, Criminal Division, where she served on a number of trial teams prosecuting RICO, Health Care Fraud, Wire and Mail Fraud, Obstruction of Justice, Money Laundering, Public Corruption, Police Misconduct, and National Security cases.

Ms. Samson has prosecuted and defended federal criminal matters including but not limited to RICO, health care fraud, wire and mail fraud, civil rights, police misconduct, civil and criminal fraud litigation, in both state and federal courts. Ms. Samson successfully represented private clients and entities in Federal Investigations involving the DOJ, FBI, DEA, DHHS, Department of Homeland Security, IRS, where she obtained non-indictments and non-custody plea deals for her clients. Ms. Samson skillfully negotiates successful plea deals for the clients accused of federal crimes, resulting in non-indictments and non-custody sentencings.

Ms. Samson has argued before the U.S. Federal Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit where she obtained an undivided vote from three Justices in favor of Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies in a deadly use of force case.

Ms. Samson’s legal services include representing private individuals and entities in all legal proceedings in federal and state courts from investigations through trial. She also advises health care entities in health care law compliance (Stark law, Anti-kickback, False Claims Act), workplace internal investigations, homicide scene investigations in deadly shooting matters and collaborating with clients to develop strategies for mitigating liability exposures and resolving legal actions with the most favorable outcomes to her clients. She also advises law enforcement agencies on legal developments in the areas of use of force and ethical and constitutional policing.

Ms. Samson is responsible for all aspects of litigation including appellate work. Ms. Samson trials in Federal Criminal, Civil Rights and complex litigation matters. Ms. Samson handles complex matters from investigations through trials for individuals and private companies.

Ms. Samson tried federal civil rights matter involving a deadly shooting of a young man by two Los Angeles Sheriff’s deputies with excessive number of shots and obtained a favorable jury verdict.

Ms. Samson successfully defended her clients’ accused of excessive force in a serious dog bite injury case in a state jury trial.

Ms. Samson has been successful in obtaining numerous favorable settlements in high exposures cases mitigating liability and excessive damages for her private and public entity clients.
